Layering Guide
CANDIDE walks you through the art of technical layers for skiing, in order to allow you to benefit from an ideal layering according to the weather conditions.
WHAT IS LAYERING?
Layering is an essential concept in order to venture into the mountains well covered. It consists of assembling layers of clothing to maximize comfort depending on the weather conditions or the type activity. Combining several layers allows you to adapt your equipment to changing weather conditions and to your physical activity intensity. Each layer is equipped with technical materials, the knowledge of which allow you to layer them ideally.
3 TYPES OF LAYERS
BASE LAYER
The base layer, worn next to the skin, is the essential element of any equipment.
MID LAYER
Worn as a second layer, it has the function of being extremely breathable and insulating in order to regulate body temperature and provide you with thermal comfort.
OUTER LAYER
The outer layer, on the other hand, protects the inner layers from the weather.

BASE LAYER
The base layer being the first in contact with the skin, it must be breathable in order to evacuate accumulated perspiration, thus keeping you warm all day long. To do this, we wanted to offer you base layers made of Merino wool. This material, known to be able to absorb up to 33% of its weight in water, will wick away moisture, preventing perspiration from remaining in contact with your skin.
MID LAYER
The mid layer is designed to be the one keeping you warm and bringing you comfort when skiing. Designed to retain your body heat, it will prove essential in extreme cold. It is thus appreciated for its technicality and its different characteristics.
OUTER LAYER
Worn as the last layer, the outer layer has the function of protecting against different weather conditions (wind, rain, snow). It then constitutes the protective shell of the layers worn underneath. While being waterproof and windproof, it must be breathable in order to evacuate accumulated moisture.
